Graham Platner will not make it to the Senate.

The Maine Democrat suspended his campaign on Wednesday amid an onslaught of sexual assault allegations that he says are false. The most jarring of the lot came on Monday, when Politico published this piece featuring testimony from a former girlfriend who claims Platner raped her. The now-former candidate emphasized in his announcement video that his dropping out is not an admission of guilt. 

This end to the Platner saga is a major victory for the Washington establishment. The former Marine ran on a similar platform as Donald Trump in 2016, pledging to fight to end the Uniparty’s economic and foreign policy programs that serve the powerful and shaft average Americans. That is why he was popular, and it is also why the people in charge cared so much about getting him canceled. This was never really about sex or tattoos.
