California Activists Seeking “Language Justice” Want to Install Broken English in Preschool Curriculums
Social justice warriors in California are lobbying for preschools to recognize African American Vernacular English (AAVE), also known as “black English,” as a legitimate language variety. They say schools embracing “black English” would fulfill the need for “language justice.”
A quick Google search reveals the following sentences as examples of AAVE:
"He be working late." "She a great teacher." "I done finished my homework." "I didn't do nothing."
A group called Black Californians United for Early Care Education is leading this push to teach children to speak terribly. Somehow, this story ain’t no joke. It’s fo’ real. They seriously want teachers to teach kids to talk that way.
