The Media Says This Hispanic Drug Cartel Doesn’t Exist. The Biden Administration Disagreed.
The media has a new narrative about Venezuela's Cártel de los Soles: it isn’t real.
CNN, AP, USA Today, and The New York Times have all pushed this idea, with a columnist for the latter plainly calling the designated terrorist organization "a group that doesn't exist."
Their claim has a fatal flaw. Joe Biden, the man they doubtlessly wish was still in the White House, went out of his way to go after Cartel de los Soles during his time in office. The former president’s administration extradited a former South American spy chief in 2023, and Biden’s DOJ cited the criminal’s "leadership of the Cártel de Los Soles” as the reason. The group is clearly no hoax.
So why does the press report otherwise? Unsurprisingly, it comes down to Trump Derangement Syndrome. They hate the president’s Venezuela agenda, and they’re gladly willing to deceive their readers to coerce them into opposing his plans.
The irony is that we, too, stand against a Maduro regime change war. We just won’t lie to make our case.
